Service Life Prediction: Vision for the Future
March 3-8, 2013
Hyatt Regency Hotel and Spa
 Monterey, California

Welcome to the Program for Service Life Prediction: Vision for the Future. http://www.nist.gov/el/building_materials/slppoly_futureconference2013.cfm
This strong technical program features 42 presentations from across the globe with a diverse mix of industrial, academic and government perspectives.   The event kicks off with a reception at the Hyatt Regency on Sunday evening.  The technical program consists of morning sessions containing five thirty minute presentations and a moderated panel session, and evening sessions containing 3-4 thirty minute presentations.   Wednesday afternoon will feature a poster session and a pre-dinner reception.   On Thursday, NSF and NIST are co-sponsoring a modeling workshop that will run the entire day, culminating with a group celebratory dinner.  The technical sessions will wrap up on Friday morning and the program will end with a very important vision-setting wrap-up discussion of service life prediction.
Throughout the conference, there will be sessions led by our partners at Underwriters Laboratories to discuss modifications to the UL 746 process.   These sessions run from 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  On Thursday, there will be an additional session from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM.  All are encouraged to attend and participate, particularly on Monday when Thomas Chapin and NoeNavarro will give overview lectures.  We invite everyone to come and participate in these sessions and contribute to this critical UL opportunity.    This is a great time to come and learn more about how the standards process builds on fundamental research.
There is still the opportunity to present a poster at this meeting.  Please send a 200 word abstract to Valeria La Saponara vlasaponara@ucdavis.edu by February 15, 2013 to be included in the poster program.
Following this meeting, all presenters are encouraged to submit a paper for publication in a peer-reviewed book volume to be published by Springer and co-sponsored by Q-lab.   Previous volumes have been highly sought-after references.  The date for the paper submission will be April 15, 2013.
To register for the meeting, please follow this link:  https://www.fbcinc.com/NIST/SLP.
Please make your hotel reservations as soon as possible and no later than Feb. 7 through this link:  https://resweb.passkey.com/go/nist2013.
